¿What is dental implantology?
Dental implantology is the study of treatments involving dental implants. It is therefore indicated for anyone who has lost any of their teeth for various reasons, such as trauma, caries or periodontal tissue diseases.
¿What is the treatment like?
Dental implants are screws made of titanium or other biocompatible materials that are “screwed” directly into the patient’s jawbone or mandible. In this way, the function of natural roots is achieved for better fixation.
In this way, the dental prosthesis is placed on these “artificial tooth roots”. This prosthesis will have been made from ceramic materials in our laboratory. In addition, it will imitate the aesthetics of natural tooth enamel.
¿How long does the treatment last?
The duration of a dental implant treatment depends on the individual. However, it should be borne in mind that before the definitive fixed prosthesis can be fitted, it is necessary to wait until the implant is perfectly integrated into the bone, which can take approximately three to six months.
¿What types of implants are there?
- BRIDGE OVER IMPLANTS: To replace several teeth in a fixed way, to avoid the use of dentures.
- SINGLE TOOTH IMPLANT: To replace a single tooth.
- IMMEDIATE LOADING IMPLANTS: To solve the loss or advanced deterioration of one, several or all teeth. The main difference is that the provisional fixed prosthesis is fitted in less than 48 hours.
